I know we are all trying to leave our houses as little as possible right now. It’s been advised that we have enough food in our homes for at least 2 weeks in case we are quarantined or have been exposed to the virus. I’ve seen a lot of these grocery list posts around but not any focused solely on the Candida diet. People who have or have had Candida can’t eat everything that everyone else can. In this list, I am focusing on phase I, phase II and the maintenance diets. I’m in the combination of phase II and maintenance.
Not all phase I diets are same. It all depends on your doctor and what they allow. My doctor let me have legumes and lentils very sparingly. Even now, I still don’t eat them a lot. Same with grains. Grains aren’t allowed in phase I but are in phase II. I eat them but very rarely. I’m essentially grain free.
Also, after doing a lot of reading, I’ve found that people who essentially went plant based (some still ate eggs/egg whites), flourished with getting rid of Candida for good. Even most maintenance recipes I’ve found are plant based. Back in January my Candida was still really bad. It was suggested to go plant based because I wasn’t digesting proteins. But it turns out it helped my overgrowth as well. Since I’m still not digesting proteins, I’m still whole food plant based. Will I stay plant based? I’m not sure.
I left things out like nut butters because you can always make your own. It’s better for you and I think they taste so much better than store bought.
You can customize this to vegetables you like but just remember no starches-no corn, potatoes, sugar, etc.
During this time, we need to nourish our bodies with whole foods. Our immune systems need all of the fruits and veggies we can get right now. Eating helping can also help your mental health as well. But that doesn’t mean we can’t indulge in some sweets. My almond butter blondies are delicious and the perfect indulgence. Remember try not to go overboard. Buy what you need, and try not to waste food. Remember this won’t last forever.
All Candida diets are different, so if you’re not sure if you can eat something, talk to your doctor or nutritionist. I hope you found my Candida diet grocery list helpful during this time. Stay inside and only go out when you need to. Take precautions when you need to leave and don’t forget to practice social distancing.
