Bright red is a quintessential sensual colour and a French girl’s most cherished accent. It can magically change a somewhat boring outfit into a look that is stylish and full of energy.
The best part, is that you can use bright red to accent just about anything. Make sure you choose a the perfect hue that matches your complexion, your mood, or the other colours you are wearing that day. Red-yellows are like a fire, pinkish reds are more refreshing and red-blues have a more sophisticated feel to them.

Favourite Red Mixes
Camel, grey and beige will always work with bright shades as the main colour because they help soften the intensity. An example would be a red dress with a camel trench coat.
When mixing red and black together, pick only one of them for the main colour and use the other as an accent. Just like I did for this outfit.
Think Brigitte Bardot for this. Mixing red and white together help create a fresh look. You can do a red skirt with a white tee or white jeans with red shoes.
Black and White Print
A print can subtly complement a black and red outfit with a third element. Black and white gingham would look super cute paired with red.
Pink and red go great together. This shade can be any hue, from pastel to bold.
Pairing red and burgundy together creates a camaïeu which is matching 2 colours that are similar to each other. I discussed camaïea when I created an outfit out of shades of blue.
When wearing pastels and red together, it is best to wear the pastel colour as the main colour and red as the accent.
This is the perfect contrast to a bright red. Imagine a red mini dress with a military style jacket.
Red and blue is an iconic French classic. It doesn’t matter what shade of blue you use, they all look great together!
If you prefer more of a soft look, use a print with red in it. Like red and white candy cane stripes or red flowers on a black background or a red and navy striped top.
When mixing red and white together, it’s best if one of them is the main colour and the other the accent. Examples include red lipstick with a white dress or a red sweater with a white top popping out underneath. You can also achieve a subtle look with a piece that uses some of the other colour.
